Custom Work and Early Prototypes
Herb Bentz is an industrial designer with 40 years of design experience and a founding Principal of Form3 Design Inc. (form3.com), a leading product design firm in Vancouver, British Columbia. Form3 was incorporated in 1997.
Narroworks Furniture, dedicated to precision-crafted design for small spaces, was founded in 2021.
Following are some examples of early prototype work, personal renovations, and custom projects.
Dining Table
This is the first prototype of a JIGSAW dining table. It is made of solid cherry and cherry veneer plywood.
SPICE RACK
Custom spice rack for the end of a kitchen counter. It is made from solid maple with a solid stained frame and shelves all finished with a hard wax oil.
NARROW shelves
Early versions of the NARROW shelves made of solid maple and finished with solid stain and hard wax oil.
BOOKCASE
Freestanding shelving unit with angled supports
Made from pine boards with solid walnut trim
4 drawer cabinet
This is an experimental design exploring the idea of cantilevered drawers with no cabinet. Drawers are supported by the back panel.
The prototype is made of solid walnut, walnut veneered plywood, and solid stained plywood.

This is a chair made of left over pieces of cherry veneer plywood, maple, walnut, and part of a yoga mat.
KITCHEN makeover
New countertop, tiles, and oak flooring; refinished and modified existing cabinets with added storage behind fridge. Cabinets made from birch plywood, maple veneer plywood, and solid maple trim.
CUSTOM floating cabinet
Custom wall mounted cabinet for bedroom with 12 drawers and shelves. Made from cherry veneer plywood and solid maple trim.
UTILITY shelving
